James William Cannon : 1872 - 1950

Funeral services for James William Cannon, retired farmer of Fulton, Route 1, who died of cancer, Wednesday, July 5, at the Amory Hospital, were held July 7 at Pickle Funeral Home in Amory with the Rev. W.C. Mattox of Corinth officiating. Burial was in New Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Cannon was 78. He had been the owner of White Springs, onetime summer resort in southern Itawamba County, since 1918. He was a native Itawamabian, having been born near Guntown in 1872.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. J.W. Cannon of New Salem; a half-brother, H.J. Dodson of Guntown; two half-sisters, Mrs. Alma Starling and Mrs. Lizzie Johnson of Guntown; four daughters, Mrs. E.S. McIntosh of Flint, Mich., Mrs. Eva Hortong of East Jordan, Mich., Mrs. Clyde Morgan of Fulton, and Mrs. Dewey Knight of Amory; three sons, N.V. and W.V. Cannon of Flint, Mich., and James A. Cannon of Fulton.

Pallbearers were Vermon and Charles Wheeler, Daily Frederick, Arnold Cleveland, and Clarence Bullard.
